In the beginning a young man with a love and appreciation for great food and impeccable service had visions of sharing his talents with Atlanta. During a successful run of the premier white tablecloth restaurant, The Diplomat, Michael Safari purchased The Atlanta Catering Company. The catering business became his new passion. In 1987 he changed the name to Glorious Events and made it his mission to staff the best managers, chef, kitchen crew, and sales team to meet the needs of the clients. Glorious Events grew quickly as the reputation for delicious food and friendly service spread throughout Atlanta. While the catering company was growing rapidly Glorious Events was approached for vending and contract services. This new business opportunity was captured by Safari and in 1990 American Food Management was started. To unite and market the two divisions Southern Hospitality Management was formed.
 

Many wonderful years have passed and SHM continues to grow its portfolio with Safari’s son, Jeff as the current president being instrumental in new opportunities. With the new management came a new name and Southern Hospitality became Safari Hospitality. In 2010 The Venetian Room opened offering a venue that blends southern charm with Atlanta chic. In 2011 Glorious Events took over the food and beverage service for The Loudermilk Conference Center.  AFM, now named Alliance Hospitality Group, manages food and beverage services for corporate cafeterias such as the Magnolia Bistro at United Way’s Woodruff Volunteer Center.

Glorious Events; after 30 years in the business, has taken on a new persona that reflects the vision of the perfect guest experience. As of October 1, 2016, Glorious Events is now Palate catering & design.

Coming fall 2016 Safari Hospitality will open a beautiful new Starbucks licensed store at the Hurt Building just steps from Georgia State University and the Atlanta Streetcar. Plans to renovate and revitalize the historic Forum Civic Center Complex in Rome, Ga are also in the works and the official take over started July 1, 2016.  

SHM is an industry leader and will continue to grow to meet the ever changing needs of the Atlanta market while staying focused on the original passion for great food and customer satisfaction.
